details from my adventure in honey harvesting and bee wrangling with golden harvest beekeeping in redwood city california.
images: examining the hive, firing up the smoker,
subduing the hive, returning the comb, bees going about their business,
fresh honey.
I used to love going on class trips to the Billy Bee Honey factory as a kid. Learning all about the bees, the hives, how one bee will only make a teaspoon of honey in their life. It was always so incredible. They're such amazing little creatures. I've always been rather enchanted with bees, bumble bees especially! :)

This was such a neat experience, I envy your early introduction to these little creatures. It took me 26 years!
DeleteThese photos are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anna!
DeleteWow, these photos are beautiful! (even the bee photo... though I have a serious fear of them after walking into a ground nest with my dog last year)
ReplyDeleteThanks! But, that sounds terrible, I'm glad these bees were not angry. The were incredibly docile once we blew some smoke their way. I wonder who figured that one out? Amazing.
